Council of the EU, 23 April 2026: adoption of the 20th sanctions package against Russia (Regulations (EU) 2026/505, 2026/509 and 2026/511), after the lifting of the Hungarian and Slovak vetoes — sanctions targeting 46 new “shadow fleet” vessels (bringing the total to 632), transaction bans with two Russian ports and an oil terminal, an asset freeze targeting 120 individuals and 60 companies in the energy sector, a sectoral ban on Russian crypto platforms, and activation of the “anti-circumvention” tool against Kyrgyzstan.
