Order of 5 June 2026 concerning the Porquières fishing reserve (Palavas-les-Flots). Decrees No. 2026-434 and No. 2026-440 of 2 June 2026 (Official Journal No. 0129 of 4 June): the first creates in the French Transport Code two new 4th-class offences for dangerous conduct at sea (manifest intoxication, failure to properly control a motorised pleasure craft), with additional penalties (suspension of licence for up to one year, possible confiscation); the second relaxes the regulation of maritime pilotage and port policing (age limit for pilot transfers, content of local station regulations, consultation of the French Federation of Maritime Pilots, removal of the age requirement for the exceptional appointment of an external head of service, transfer of the power to increase the waste levy to the port authority).

CJEU, 5th Chamber, 4 June 2026, Case C-629/24, Costa Crociere and Others, on a reference for a preliminary ruling from the French Court of Cassation: interpretation of Articles 2, 3(1) and 7(1) (and Annex I) of Regulation (EC) No. 392/2009 on the liability of carriers of passengers by sea, in the situation where a cruise also has the characteristics of a package travel contract within the meaning of Directive 90/314/EEC (Opinion of Advocate General Norkus of 4 September 2025) — a decision of direct interest for personal injury litigation in the cruise industry.
