On the night of 19 to 20 May, the European Parliament and the Council reach, in trilogue, an agreement on the tariff implementation of the Turnberry Agreement, after several failed rounds of negotiation. The compromise gives the United States until the end of 2026 to lift the additional tariffs on 407 categories of steel and aluminium derivative products, in exchange for a reinforced suspension clause allowing the Commission to suspend tariff preferences in the event of US non-compliance.
