Confirmation of the Google Android fine — On 2 July 2026, the Court of Justice of the European Union dismisses the appeal brought by Google and its parent company Alphabet, definitively confirming the €4.125 billion fine imposed for abuse of a dominant position in the Android ecosystem, of which €1.52 billion is borne by Alphabet.

Abrupt termination and the standard-form road haulage contract — Cass. com., 1 July 2026, No. 24-19.356 (Rivière v. Holcim Réunion) — Where the parties to a road haulage contract have not stipulated a notice period and do not refer to the standard-form contract, Article L. 442-1, II of the Commercial Code applies; a notice period at least equal to that of the standard-form contract excludes the liability of the party terminating the contract.

Extinctive effect of statutory set-off — Cass. com., 1 July 2026 — The Commercial Chamber reiterates that statutory set-off produces a retroactive extinctive effect as of the date its conditions are met, and not as of the date it is invoked.
